Training for a thriving industry
The UK bakery and confectionery sectors dominate the UK Food and Drink Manufacturing and Processing (FDMP) industry, employing more than 95,200 people across 1,830 businesses in bakery and an additional 18,200 workers across 260 businesses in confectionery.
The bakery and confectionery industries are highly productive. The bakery sector contributes 10% of the UK FDMP’s turnover and 12% of the UK FDMP industry’s exports. The confectionery sector contributes 8% of the UK FDMP’s turnover and 3% of exports. Investment in the right skills and training is essential for the continued health and growth of the sector.
